EIC Accelerator awards 108 Million Euros to Israeli Startups
Nine Israeli startup companies have been awarded a total of 108 million euros from the European Innovation Council’s EIC Accelerator Programme. With this number of recipients, Israel ranks third in Europe among companies awarded funding, following Germany and France.

Sylke Tempel Fellowship: Initiating Constructive Debates
In memory of the German political scientist, journalist and publicist Dr Sylke Tempel, the Sylke Tempel Fellowship has been awarded since 2019. The one-year research fellowship focusses on current developments in Israeli and German foreign and security policy. It is aimed at media professionals from both countries aged between 18 and 45.

Vocational Training: Innovative Concepts from Israel
Germany and Israel have been working together in the field of vocational education and training since 1969. The traditional education system struggles to meet the requirements of the 21st century. The online event ‘Creative education as an opportunity for young people’ presented innovative models from Israel, which use youth enterprises to convey experiences of self-efficacy.

Umbrella Award: Call for Nominations 2024
Nominations for the Umbrella Award 2024 by Technion, RWTH Aachen University and Forschungszentrum Juelich can be subitted until 30 July. The award supports an exchange visit of young post-docs to a partner instititution in the other country. This year’s topic is ‘Advancing Energy Materials with State-of-the-Art Analytics and AI’.

Charité intensifies cooperation with Clalit Health Services
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Israel impressively demonstrated how efficient patient data collection can be used to advance research into the prevention of infections and development of therapies. One of Israel’s largest healthcare organisations, Clalit Health Services, has since been cooperating with Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin.

GIHF-AI Conference 2024
On 24 and 25 June 2024, the third annual conference of the German Israeli Health Forum for Artificial Intelligence (GIHF-AI) brought around 120 German and Israeli stakeholders from the healthcare sector to Berlin. One of the speakers was German Federal Health Minister Karl Lauterbach.

The European Leadership Network (ELNET) has conducted the Israel Survey for the third consecutive year. 317 Members of Parliament (MPs) from 29 European countries participated in the unique research project.

Federal Research Minister travels to Israel for AI conference
Federal Research Minister Bettina Stark-Watzinger will travel to Israel from 26 to 28 June 2024. According to a spokesperson for the ministry, Stark-Watzinger will be taking part in the AI Week at Tel Aviv University.
