HIDA Trilateral Exchange Programme 2024
The ‘Hemholtz Information and Data Science Academy’ (HIDA) is a trilateral exchange programme between Israel, the UK and the Helmholtz Association. An interim evlatuation takes place at the start of 2024. The next round of calls for applications is expected to be announced in autum 2024.

More funding for German-Israeli Youth Exchange 2024
The funding for German-Israeli youth exchange provided annually by the German Federal Government’s Children and Youth Plan has been doubled: Instead of previously 2.3 million euros, the budget is now at 4.6 million euros for 2024.

Helmholtz President visits Israel
For the first time since the terrorist attack by Hamas, Helmholtz President Otmar D. Wiestler travelled to Israel, where he met with scientists from the Weizmann Institute of Science, among others. He emphasised the importance of German-Israeli relations for German science and for Helmholtz in particular.

Israeli-German project invetsigates the role of intracellular players in reading mRNA
More than 1,000 players are involved in a cell when genetic information is translated into proteins. A new German-Israeli research project is now working on systematically identifying their respective tasks. The 5-year project is funded by the German Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) within the framework of the German-Israeli Project Cooperation (DIP).

Meeting of the Minerva Fellows 2024
From 15 to 16 January 2024, the German and Israeli Fellows of the Minerva Fellowship Programme came together in Tutzing on Lake Starnberg. Since the outbreak of war in Israel, triggered by Hamas’ terrorist attack on 7 October 2023, the Fellowship Programme of the Minerva Stiftung has faced the greatest challenges in its 50-year history.
