In the aftermath of the brutal Hamas attacks on 7 October 2023, numerous Israeli civil society organisations and individuals united, demonstrating remarkable solidarity and swiftly mobilising to support the affected communities. In honour of the remarkable efforts made, the Shimon Peres Special Prize, awarded only this year, will be presented to an Israeli civil society initiative that has provided outstanding voluntary support since October 7.
At the same time, the exceptional dedication of the two German-Israeli cooperation projects receiving the Shimon Peres Prize will be honoured. You are invited to join the award ceremony in Berlin to send a powerful message of solidarity and support for those advocating for strong and pluralistic relationships.
The award ceremony will take place on 31 October. The organisers are looking forward to communally honouring the winning projects and to listening to interesting speeches. The Revolution Orchestra from Israel will provide the musical accompaniment for the evening with songs in Hebrew and Arabic. After the ceremony, the participants are invited to stay awhile and enjoy the rest of the evening with some drinks and a vegetarian buffet.
The Shimon Peres Prize is awarded by the Federal Foreign Office in cooperation with the German-Israeli Future Forum.
