
The position of Science and Academia Officer at the Israeli Embassy in Berlin is a full-time, on-site role. The post is intended to strengthen scientific and academic cooperation between Israel and Germany.
Requirements
- EU citizenship (the position is not open to Israeli citizens)
- BA degree or higher
- Fluent in German and English (knowledge of Hebrew would be an advantage)
- Familiarity with the German academic system and infrastructure
- Strong organisational skills and project management experience
- Strong communication, teamwork and networking skills
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include identifying opportunities for cooperation, supporting scientific and academic collaboration, monitoring developments in the German and Israeli research landscapes, and establishing and maintaining relationships with German research institutions, universities and scientific organisations.
The successful candidate will prepare briefings, background papers and reports, and organise and coordinate events such as conferences, delegation visits, workshops and visits.
Day-to-day tasks include maintaining contacts with universities, research institutions, funding organisations and relevant authorities, managing relevant communication channels, and contributing to public relations activities in the field of science and research.
In addition, the role involves administrative tasks such as handling correspondence, maintaining databases and providing support with budget planning and reporting in connection with scientific and academic projects.
Qualification details
- Relevant academic background (at least a BA degree)
- Strong organisational and project management skills, as well as the ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously, meet deadlines and organise events
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate scientific information, policy documents and the outcomes of collaborative projects
- Experience in scientific work and in drafting specialist texts to produce clear and precise reports, briefings and concept papers on academic and innovation-related topics
- Very good oral and written communication skills in English and German; knowledge of Hebrew would be an advantage
- Experience in higher education, research management, the public sector or international cooperation, particularly in a German or European context, is desirable
