Good news for German-Israeli youth exchange: The funding of previously 2.3 million euros provided by annually the German Federal Government’s Children and Youth Plan has now been doubled: In 2024, 4.6 million euros will be available for German-Israeli youth exchange projects and for German-Israeli youth welfare specialist programmes.

This will bring a tangible improvement for the exchange programmes: from the beginning of this year, all of the around 350 exchange projects earmarked for funding will be able to count on full funding in accordance with the regulations. This situation has not existed for many years.

The plan for 2024 is to continue the intensive contacts and resume encounters between young people from both countries. To this end, the accompanying work in the process of establishing a German-Israeli Youth Organisation as well as the educational work in the project ‘Visible Action! Against anti-Semitism. Education in Germany – Encounters with Israel’ will be continued and funded by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth. A total of around 6 million euros will therefore be available to the German-Israeli Youth Exchange programme in 2024.
