In September, the Institut für Neue Soziale Plastik published the study ‘Resonances: German-Israeli Cultural Relations. Taking stock – Analysing trends – Making recommendations.’ on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Germany and Israel in 2025.

The study is the first comprehensive analysis of cultural relations between the Federal Republic of Germany and Israel since the events of 7 October 2023. It examines various areas of cultural exchange, such as forums for encounters, science and research, youth and school exchanges, social dialogue and exchanges in the arts.

It asks how cultural relations between the Federal Republic of Germany and Israel stand 60 years after the establishment of diplomatic relations and provides results based on a combination of qualitative interviews, literature analyses and empirical data.

The study was financed by the Landecker Foundation. The German Cultural Council, which is funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, provided conceptual support for the study and wrote a foreword.

The complete study (in German) as well as summaries in 3 languages are available for download on the website of the Institut für Neue Soziale Plastik.
