TRANSCAN Call 2026: Translational Research on Cancer Metabolism
The overarching objective is to significantly advance the understanding and exploitation of cancer metabolism in clinically relevant settings. The anticipated outcome of the call is the development of innovative, personalised approaches for cancer diagnosis, patient stratification, and treatment. Both Israel and Germany are among the participating countries. Submit pre-proposals by 21 July. Successful applicants will be invited to submit their full proposal.

EUREKA: Germany and Israel call for projects 2026
Call for Proposals for joint German-Israeli R&D projects, focusing on the development of innovative products and services in all technological and application areas. Funding is targeted at ready-to-market solutions for products, technology-based services, or methods with a strong market potential for Germany, Israel, and Europe. Partners apply with their project for a Eureka label, a pan European network for market-oriented R&D.

Student exchange between the University of Cologne and Ben-Gurion University
Places at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev are primarily awarded to students of Jewish Studies and History. However, students from other disciplines can also apply. The places are aimed at Bachelor’s, Master’s and doctoral students. 2 annual places (or 4 semester places) are available per academic year. The application deadline for the following summer semester is 1 August of the previous year.

Cancer Research: DKFZ-MOST Cooperation Call 2026 / 2027
The Israeli Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology (MOST) and the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) invite German and Israeli scientists to submit joint pre-proposals for innovative and potentially applicable research projects on all topics and aspects (prevention, diagnosis, therapy) of state-of-the art cancer research. Martin Buber Society: Call for the Academic Year 2027 / 2028
The Martin Buber Society of Fellows aims at fostering interdisciplinary academic discourse between postdocs in all fields of the Humanities and the Social Sciences. Application is open to candidates who have completed their PhD at an Israeli or German university, as well as citizens of Israel or Germany who have received their PhD in any country (no earlier than 1 October 2022, and no later than 1 July 2027).

Raw Materials: RAMP Joint Call 2026
RAMP 2026 is the first Joint Transnational Call of the European Partnership on Raw Materials (RAMP) under Horizon Europe. Both Israel (IIA) and Germany (BMFTR, SMWK) take part in this call. Consortia need 3 partners of which 2 must be from the EU. RAMP expects proposals which focus on improving access to raw materials while promoting circular economy practices, achieving sustainability, and minimising social and environmental costs.

GIF 2026 Call for AI in Science and Society
Two funding tracks are available: The Collaborative Track supports joint proposals by German and Israeli researchers for a duration of up to 3 years, with a maximum total budget of 300,000 Euros. The Solo Track supports early-career researchers submitting one-year projects without a partner from the other country. Maximum budget: 25,000 Euros. The submission period for pre-proposals starts on 1 September 2026.

ISF-DFG Standing Open Procedure on a Lead Agency Basis
Israeli-German research teams are invited to submit outstanding joint research proposals within the scope of basic research in all fields of the sciences and the humanities in this joint funding opportunity of the DFG and the ISF. This Standing Open Procedure works without proposal deadlines, although a yearly pre-registration obligation of the Israeli researchers on the ISF side is required.

Young Scientists Exchange Program (YSEP)
In order to encourage young scientists to engage themselves in the Water Technology Research Programme in the framework of the German-Israeli Cooperation, BMBF and MOST initiated a young scientists exchange programme in 1999. The programme is open to Israeli and German students, post graduates, doctoral degree students, and post doctorate candidates who wish to spend a training period in Israel or Germany for 1 to 6 months.

German-Israeli Water Technology Call 2026
Funding is available for economically promising innovations in water technology and water systems that can also be transferred to other regions. Interested parties from both Israel and Germany may submit applications for joint research projects. There are two deadlines for the submission of Israeli funding applications: project outlines must be submitted by 1 July, full applications by 8 July. For German applicants, the deadline is 8 July 2026.

Max Planck-Weizmann Postdoctoral Programme
The Max Planck Society (MPG) and the Weizmann Institute of Science (WIS) jointly offer outstanding postdoctoral researchers in the fields of life sciences, natural sciences and social and human sciences a prestigious four-year appointment in a unique research environment, with half of the time spent at MPG and half at WIS. Employment contracts are awarded in accordance with German rules and guidelines.

PRIMA Calls 2026
PRIMA (Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area) is an international funding initiative that aims to effectively address the challenges facing the Mediterranean Area in relation to agricultural and food systems and water scarcity through research and innovation. Both Germany and Israel are participating in PRIMA. The three thematic calls for project proposals are open until 15 May. The deadline for the PRIMA CSA Call is 11 June.

The Azrieli Visiting PhD Fellowship enables outstanding international PhD candidates to conduct short-term research in Israel, fostering collaboration with leading researchers. Minerva Short-Term Research Grant
The Minerva Short-Term Research Grant enables young German and Israeli scientists from all subjects to visit research partners and establish contacts in the respective guest country. Jointly funded by the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) and the Israeli Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology (MOST), these grants cover stays of one to eight weeks including travel expenses and additional costs.

Tel Aviv-Potsdam: Joint Postdoctoral and PhD Exchange Fellowships
For the 10th time, the University of Potsdam and Tel Aviv University are jointly offering a Joint Postdoctoral Fellowship and a PhD Exchange Fellowship. The funding enables a postdoctoral researcher or PhD student from either university to undertake a stay at the respective partner institution. Applicants may come from a variety of disciplines. The starting date for the exchange is 1 October 2026.

The Applied Physics Institute at Hebrew University Jerusalem welcomes applications for a summer research programme for undergraduate students in June / July 2026. The Institute for the History of the German Jews in Hamburg (IGdJ) in Hamburg wil award three annual research grants 2027, which are intended to promoteinnovative academic projects in the field of Jewish studies and deepen national and international exchange at the IGdJ. Two of the grants will be for a fellowship of up to 4 months, one grant is for a fellowship of 2 to 3 months.

30th Call German-Israeli Project Cooperation (DIP)
The German-Israeli Project Cooperation (DIP) is considered the “flagship of German-Israeli science cooperation” . Within this framework, the BMFTR funds research projects for generally up to 5 years. Up to 3 projects are selected each year. The DIP is open to all scientific fields. Only 8 Israeli institutions are eligible to apply. The German partners are not eligible to apply themselves, but are involved via the Israeli project application.
