ATHENE: New German-Israeli research cooperation on cybersecurity in the energy sector
ATHENE, the National Research Center for Applied Cybersecurity in Germany, and the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure of the State of Israel are launching a new collaborative research programme. Researchers from Israeli universities and ATHENE scientists will develop solutions to cybersecurity issues in the energy sector.

14 Israeli researchers awarded ERC Advanced Grants
A total of 14 researchers from the Hebrew University, the Technion, Tel Aviv University and the Weizmann Institute will receive the prestigious grants from the European Research Council (ERC), each worth 2.5 million euros.

COST is a European funding initiative for the creation of research networks, called COST Actions. Both Israel and Germany are participating in COST. The COST Open Call 2024 is now open. The next collection date will be 23 October 2024.

EU funding initiative PRIMA extended until 2027
On 19 April 2024, the European Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area (PRIMA), in which both Israel and Germany currently participate, was successfully extended by three years (2025-2027).

Israeli high school students visit DESY in Hamburg
A group of 23 Israeli students visited Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron (DESY) in Hamburg for a week. The group comes from the Israeli Schwartz/Reisman Science Education Center, an institution under the umbrella of the renowned Weizmann Institute of Science.

Israel Innovation Authority funds Deep Tech Incubators
The Israel Innovation Authority is launching a new fund to establish 3 Deep Tech Incubators. Winners of the tender will receive grants of up to NIS 40 million over a period of up to 5 years to set up incubators in a variety of sectors.
